The latest high-end task chair from Herman Miller, Embody, was created to return balance to the human and
computer working relationship.
Designed by Jeff Weber and Bill Stumpf, creator of the Aeron chair, Embody was a multi-year, in-depth exploration of people's working and sitting habits, the influence of technology on how people work, and a relentless pursuit to design a chair like no other. It addresses the way people sit at the workstation in a new way. It realigns the human sitting posture to adapt to fixed technology on the desk, providing a sitting experience good for the body, as well as the mind.
Created to deliver postural equilibrium, (the point whereby the head is aligned vertically with the pelvis), Embody delivers an unmatched sitting experience.
The seat cradles the sitter in the seat pan, stabilising the pelvis in a forward-rotated position.
The backrest moulds to the individual back shape of the sitter, providing sacral, lumbar and, uniquely to Embody, thoracic support.
The unique BackFit adjustment then fine tunes the sitting posture to align the relationship between backrest and user's technology. This ensures that the sitter's head is positioned at the point of postural equilibrium, importantly maintaining an eye line pointed to the horizon.
Environmentally friendly, Embody has received Silver MBDC Cradle to Cradle certification. Designed using 42 percent recycled content and being 95 percent recyclable at the end of its useful life, Embody carries the spirit of Herman Miller´s Design for the Environment criteria.
Like all Herman Miller task chairs, Embody is warranted for 12 years in 24 hour use.
Aesthetically, Embody is testament to the principle of form following function. Nothing is hidden. Instead, design is celebrated. From the "exoskeletal" backrest to the exposed tilt tension mechanism, Embody allows the user to experience physically and visually the full functionality of the chair.
